The kinds of projects we work on can cover lots of different topics.
Sometimes we work with pictures of the Earth from Space (the science of Earth Observation) to better understand our world and it’s challenges.
Sometimes we work with computer software which helps us to gather and process information for our customers, usually based on sensors which are mounted on satellites orbiting the earth.
Sometimes we work with Artificial Intelligence (AI) models to make better use of the data we have, and to help us process it all in more details and faster.
My job is to understand everything well enough to get the right teams in place and working well together, but then I work closely with specialist experts to complete the tasks.
-
Education:
I went to high school in Glasgow and then studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, and got my Masters there as well.
Whilst at university I also spent time living and studying in California in the USA and Valencia in Spain, which were both absolutely amazing experiences!
-
Qualifications:
At school in Scotland I studied Standard Grades, which are like GCSE’s. I studied Maths, English, Physics, Chemistry, Computing, Music, Geography and French.
I then went on to study Maths, English, Physics, Computing, Chemistry and Music at Higher (which is like AS-Levels) and Maths and Physics again at Adanced Higher (like A-Levels).
-
Work History:
Before I worked for Airbus, I did a few different jobs, and spent some years working in the events industry.
I worked to plan big sports events like Wimbledon or the Commonwealth Games and those organisational skills and the buzz of being around people plus learning to be a great communicator in high-pressure situations helped lead me to become a project manager in the engineering industry.
