My interests include science in general, of course chemistry but also astronomy, space technology, microbiology, archeaology.
I’m also a reenactor of medieval time (13th century), especially medieval combat in full armour with swords and shields. I perform in castles with my group for example Tynemouth, Richmond, Belsay Hall in the North-East of England.

1- I design molecules that change chemical structures upon bacterial/fungal metabolic activity. These changes can be easily measured and may be different depending on the type of microorganism acting on them (e.g. E. coli, S. aureus, C. albicans, etc). Thus, these changes can be used to identify strains of pathogen involved and therefore for clinicians to identify the proper course of action to fight infection.
2- I design molecules that can bind iron accumulating in neurons of people suffering from Parkinson’s Disease. This iron is responsible for the death of the neurons by promoting oxidation of the molecules constituting the cells. Removing this iron could therefore help prevent development of the disease.
