I am originally from the South of France, in the Pyrenees. I’ve spent my childhood being outdoors and helping my parents at the farm.
I moved to England 4 years ago to initially improve my English. As I loved it so much, I ended up staying.
I’ve lived in different parts of the country but I can say with certainty that Durham is my favourite so far! There’s nature all around and I’ve met amazing people!

Peatlands are really important because they store carbon and help slowing the flow of water from the hills to reduce the impact of flooding downstream.
Sadly, many peatlands have been neglected or damaged. That’s where my job comes in – I work to restore and take care of them and hopefully reducing the effects of climate change further down the line.

Education:
I completed my A-levels in Science and studied Literature and Journalism at university.
I quickly realised that working in an office 5 days a week was not for me. I needed to be outside and do something meaningful for the planet.
Two years ago, I started a program in Countryside Management and Conservation. In this course, I learned how to take care of natural habitats and manage the skills needed for countryside estates.
This led me to my current job and I do not regret any part of the journey!

Work History:
Before working in the North Pennines, I worked a few months in Communications and Social media. Even though it wasn’t a career path for me, it allowed me to be creative which I really enjoyed.
During my Diploma in Conservation, I volunteered in a London park to help the conservation team in managing woodlands and grasslands. I helped in river restoration, cutting trees to encourage other plants to grow, building a hibernaculum (a very cool shelter for insects), etc. That was an amazing experience where I’ve learnt a lot from really passionate people.
While studying at university, I also worked as a Barista in cafes.
