About Me:
Hi I am Sadaf Iqbal. I am a researcher, science enthusiast also a mum. I have studied engineering in my undergraduate and masters’ degree. I have always wanted to work in the fields where mathematics and technology can benefit day to day lives of everybody. I did a PhD in Deep learning to detect a disease called Systemic Sclerosis using as easy a method as applying finger clips on your finger nails.
I believe Science is beautiful and is for everyone to enjoy and explore. I do enjoy talking to people how amazing science can be and if they think science is difficult, then talking to them about how it is not as difficult as they think. I have given several public talks to members of public where they were able to enjoy science in a casual chat and easy discussions.
I believe our young students are the ones who are constantly thinking about questions such as “Why should I study science”, “Should I stusy science when I go for higher studies?”, “Well can I not choose science when I grow up ?”, “How difficult is Maths or Physics or Programming ?”, so I believe that giving them a platform to explore their queries can make a huge difference in making it easier for them to love science. So here I volunteered to answer the questions from our budding scientists, the science enthusiats and from everyone who wants to ask questions.

The area of my work is artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning to solve practical problems. Now the names of these look difficult but actually these are technologies that we use in our daily lives without even realising. Whether it is the recommendations that show up as soon as we open YouTube or the Google Maps that we all use. It is all utilising the above fields. A lot of interesting work is being done by scientists worldwide using the above fileds, to solve pratical problems like use of computers to help the doctors read 1000s of medical notes or X ray images quickly instead of going through each one which takes time, to design driverless cars, to control rovers on Mars remotely and now Chat bots such as ChatGPT, Gemini which can keep on answering our questions and much more. I am also a part of that huge community of science enthusiats and researchers that are working in these areas and I am really happy to be a part of the group.
